GeoX-GBA 2026 Second Announcement
Join us in Zhuhai to explore the frontiers of geoscience. The 2026 Greater Bay Area Future Geosciences Symposium (GeoX-GBA 2026) will be held on 27-28 November 2026 at the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhuhai Campus. As the symposium approaches, Zhuhai is preparing to welcome experts, scholars, early-career researchers and postgraduate students from across the geoscience community.
In December 2025, GeoX-GBA 2025 was successfully held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. More than 100 scholars and students from over ten universities and research institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and elsewhere in mainland China gathered to share research findings and discuss scientific questions through plenary lectures, oral presentations and poster sessions. The symposium created valuable opportunities for researchers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds to build academic connections and expand research collaboration.
Building on the vibrant academic exchange of the 2025 symposium, GeoX-GBA 2026 will continue to highlight advances in geosciences, environmental sciences, atmospheric sciences, geophysics, planetary sciences, Earth observation and related fields. It will also examine the application of emerging approaches in geoscience research, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, big-data analytics, remote sensing and advanced Earth observation technologies. Through plenary lectures, oral presentations and poster sessions, the symposium will foster dialogue across research areas and provide a platform for early-career scholars and postgraduate students to present their work and broaden their research horizons.
The conference features invited talks by Prof. Huai Zhang of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Daoyuan Sun of the University of Science and Technology of China, who will present their latest research findings in planetary dynamics modeling and planetary seismology. From deep-Earth processes to changes in the surface environment, and from natural-resource exploration to planetary science, the symposium will bring together perspectives from across disciplines. We look forward to welcoming experts and scholars from the Greater Bay Area and beyond to Zhuhai to share scientific advances, exchange research ideas, explore opportunities for collaboration and identify new directions for the future of geoscience.
