Brief Introduction
Professor Zheng Wenjun is a doctoral supervisor brought into the Sun Yat-sen University as one of the young outstanding talents urgently needed in the “Hundred Talents Program Phase II” in 2016. He is mainly engaged in the researches of active tectonics, neotectonics, tectonic landform, earthquake, and seismic hazard. As a project leader of the National Key Research and Development Program of China and one project of the second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research program, he has presided over the Major Research Plan and General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and participated in the Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China and other industry research projects as one of the major members. More than 160 papers have been already published and more than 70 of which were published in the past five years. He has won the second prize of National Natural Science Award in 2017 as the third participant, both a first prize and a second prize of Excellent Scientific Achievement in Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reducing of the China Seismological Bureau in 2015 as the fourth participant, the second prize of Teaching Achievement in Guangdong Province in 2022 as the second participant, and the first prize of Teaching Achievement of the Sun Yat-sen University in 2021 as the second participant. Studying the active tectonics in Tibetan Plateau over the years, his research group has put forward a new understanding that the northeastward expansion of the northeastern margin of Tibetan Plateau has crossed the Hexi Corridor to the southern Alxa, forming the latest boundary of plateau expansion.
